PUPIL VOICE
Learning Council
The aim of our School Learning Council is to give us a voice within the school. We attend school every day and knowing exactly what is needed for positive change is paramount, so we are encouraged to participate in any transformation or change programmes in our school. Participation means we have an active and meaningful involvement in decisions that affect us. At the start of the academic year, children in each class are asked to vote for one boy or girl from their class to act as their class representative. Meetings are held every few weeks where the councillors get together with the school Lead Teacher to discuss a whole range of issues relating to school matters. After meetings school council members report back to their classes and sometimes to the whole school in assemblies. Examples of meeting agendas include: homework, classroom environment, playtime and playground equipment, the curriculum and charity fundraising. This is a wonderful experience for us as children to relate our own democratic role within school to that of Members of Parliament.
