Dear Parents and Carers,
We warmly welcome all our new children this term. All children starting the nursery have been allocated a key worker, who will arrange to meet with you over the next few weeks to discuss your child’s learning.
In Literacy, the children will be reading both fiction and non-fiction books, learning letter sounds, practising letter formation and learning to write their names. They will also be learning about grammaticlly correct simple sentences.
In Numeracy, we will be counting, learning to recognise numbers, and identifying the number of objects in a group, naming 2D and 3D shapes and learning about their properties.
During the term, the children will be learning facts about their families and the local community. They will be finding out about the different roles people fulfill in society and the culture and the world around them. They will be encouraged to develop their gross motor skills by using the climbing frame, riding bikes and using small apparatus/PE equipment.
The children will be offered milk, water and fruit for snacks each day. If you are able to, we would like parents/carers to contribute 50p per week to the class funds to go towards cooking ingredients and other materials. Any recycled boxes and bottles are welcomed for junk modelling and other creative purposes.
The children will continue to receive homework every three weeks, with a project to complete during this time. This is to consolidate what they have been learning in class.
We would like to remind parents that no jewellery is allowed to be worn in school, apart from small stud earrings. We also ask that children leave toys at home as they can easily get lost or broken in Nursery.
Yours sincerely
The Nursery Team
