Engineering

Engineering

The engineering curriculum supports the Trusts main and core subjects, enriching the pupils' accessibility to achieve a broad and balanced curriculum. Engineering within the trust provides the pupils with the opportunity to acquire and apply technical, scientific and mathematical knowledge to implement materials, structures, machine and device systems and processes that safely achieve the desired objective. The Integration of Engineering through a range of curriculum subjects such as PSHE, Science and Computing and curriculum events such as Enterprise Week, allows the pupils to have experiences and be taught concepts relating to the areas of engineering including structural, electrical software and many more.

The Engineering curriculum aims to support the children developing their knowledge of:

  • Project planning- running a project effectively, time management, planning prioritising and balancing different demands such as cost, quality and speed.
  • Problem solving and creativity.
  • Communication and teamwork.
  • Persistence and perseverance.
  • Health and safety.
  • Numeracy- budgeting, costing and calculating profit margins.
  • Computer skills – using a more comprehensive range of applications such as using computer-aided design software to develop and improve products and developing programming and problem-solving skills.
  • The role of engineering in the rapid development of technology and the need to sustain the planet.

We encourage our children to think about the importance of engineering all around us. Across our curriculum, each year group complete a range of engineering projects within a range of curriculum links.
